ENGLAND IS MINE

MARK GRILL

Mark Gill | United Kingdom | 2017 | 94 min. O.V. English with Spanish subtitles

“If you mention my name, people either puke or get excited. It’s a compliment because it means that, at the very least, you’re original”. That name is Morrissey, ex-leader of the Smiths, a sensitive, controversial figure whose shaping is told in this fiction. A road that leads from an adolescent, timid Mos, fan of the New York Dolls with a record of the Shangri-las in one hand and a book by Oscar Wilde in the other, and his tortuous rite of passage until he became the tormented, rebellious youth who, gladiola in hand, would go out to conquer the world and give a voice to a generation with the Smiths.
