A SEASON IN FRANCE

MAHAMAT-SALH HAORUN

Mahamat-Saleh Haroun | France, Chad | 2017 | 100 min. | O.V French wiht English and Spanish subtitles

A man with two children tries to build a family in France with the woman he loves. A simple story, that becomes complicated to the point of being risky if the man is an immigrant from the Central African Republic and his love is a white French woman. Abbas is a respected academic in his country, who flees in search of asylum with his children. In France he meets Carole (Sandrine Bonnaire), but they will have to struggle with Abbas’s own traumas and the society around them. A story of our time, with the prize-winning Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (awarded at festival such as Venice and Cannes in film such as Daratt and A Screaming Man) has an unusual empathy and urgency.
