WHORE'S GLORY

WHORE'S GLORY

Michael Glawogger

Michael Glawogger | Austria, Germany | 2011 | 118 min. | V.O. Bengali, Tahitian, Spanish subtitled in Spanish and English

A documentary that looks at prostitution, as it is understood in three different countries, with diverse societies, languages and cultures. In Thailand, women wait behind a glass urn until they are chosen by clients. In Bangladesh, men go to the brothel in search of the materialization of their unsatisfied desires. In Mexico, in the area known as the The Tolerance Zone, near the border with Texas, the clients drive their cars up and down the main street while they observe and are observed by the prostitutes, who commend themselves to their saints in order to try to escape from their reality. It’s possible to find sparks of beauty among the cruelty and violence suffered by women who have experienced physically and emotionally everything that can happen between a man and a woman.
