TONIGHT AND THE PEOPLE

TONIGHT AND THE PEOPLE

Neïl Beloufa

Neil Beloufa | Francia, EE.UU. | 2014 | 81 min. | V.O. inglés subtitulada en español

With a kind of Brechtian distancing passed through the filter of sitcoms, Neil Beloufa situates a group of archetypal characters, almost Lego people, in an enormous model that represents, in a disturbingly atmospheric way, an invented California. Some cowboys galloping through deserts in“day for night”, a group of activists, some hippies, two couples and a group of adolescents get ready for a great undetermined event that will take place that night, perhaps the end of the world as we know it. And meanwhile, through their conversations, digressions included, they thrash out all the themes and clichés that correspond to their respective human groups. The infinite absurdity of the world, condemned to be what it is for as long as people continue to exist, condensed in intelligent comedy in constant shortcircuit.
