Alain Resnais

Alain Resnais | France | 2014 | 108 min. | V.O French subtitled in Spanish and English

With touches of comedy and farce, Alain Resnais’ posthumous film tackles the subject of death with unusual vitality. While busy preparing an amateur theatrical production, a group of old friends learn that George Riley, a great companion and a wonderful actor, has only got a short time to live because of a terminal illness. As a result of the news, the various affairs which George, whom we never see, has been having, had gradually come to light and no one is spared. Affairs, dramas, fights and confessions follow on in Riley’s cathartic farewell to the world. A final roar of laughter, of R&R, from the shadows of death.
