Miguel Gomes

Miguel Gomes | Italy, Germany, France, Portugal | 2013 | 26 min. | O.V. Portuguese, Italian, French and German subtitled in Spanish and English

Miguel Gomes used found footage to construct the four parts of this film, four imagined letters from people who will be crucial figures in the present history of Europe: a boy who, in the 70s, writes a letter from the Portuguese colonies in Africa; a man who talks with disarming frankness to his newborn child in France in 2011; a man who recalls today the girl who was his first love, a long time ago in Milan; and a woman about to get married in the Leipzig of 1977, can’t get out of her head (very symbolically) a symphony by Wagner.
