My Dog Killer

My Dog Killer

Mira Fornay

Mira Fornay | Slovakia | 2013 | 90 min. | O.V. Slovak and y Moravian subtitled in Spanish and English

Fornay moves to the border between Slovakia and the Czech region of Moravia to follow a day in the life of an 18 year old boy called Marek, a member of a gang of skinheads who lay down the rules for coexistence in this remote place. This is Marek’s reference group, where he decides to take refuge, as opposed to his membership group: a family broken up by an infidelity which resulted in a mestizo offspring who is rejected by the entire community and is a source of shame for the youth who, despite his affiliations, has to struggle with the existence of a gypsy brother like someone hiding a shady past. So shame is the central theme of the film, represented by the dog who goes everywhere with Marek, an aggressive pitbull who, without its leash, can cause tremendous harm.
