16th Century. A despotic baron forces the prosperous Michal Kohlhaas to pay two horses as tribute in order to cross his lands. This is the start of what will be a long war in the name of justice, in which the upright Kohlhaas will fight (recruiting his own army) without malice or thirst for vengeance, for what he considers his right. A war that will lead him to lose all he loves most (and a lot more), despite which he accepts the fate
of the most heroic characters: to continue on to the ultimate consequences for his principles. De Pallières offers a sober, elegant adaptation of the homonymous novel by Heinrich von Kleist, based in turn on a legendary Kohlhaas who lived in France.
