Leos Carax | France | 1986 | 120 min. | O.V. French subtitled in Spanish
Somewhere between science fiction and a crime thriller, Mala Sangre is set in the near future, as always, in Paris. Alex, Lavant again, is a youth who leaves his 16-year old girlfriend to follow Marc and Hans, former partners in crime of his father, who are planning to steal and sell a new antidote for curing a virus similar to AIDS. With a transgressing spirit, Carax films an empty city with a post-apocalyptic appearance, under threat from the passing of Haley’s Comet, in a strange, disjointed story that is poetic and at times breathtaking.
