Vivir en Sevilla

Vivir en Sevilla

Gonzalo García Pelayo

Spain, 1978, 108 min., Spanish

Vivir en Sevilla is the total piece of work by García Pelayo, his most balanced film, precisely because it is the one where the mixture of different genres (fiction feature film, anthropologic documentary, cinéma verité, brechtian agitation...) receives more and better spontaneous stictches. While the love story between Miguel and Ana is slowly closing the circle of their litmus test (the birth of their love, testing of the same and final vows renewal), Pelayo and his team offer polyedric scopes on feelings, while composing the symphony of a city during the special juncture in the country’s transition. Godard, Garrel, Eustache, Rouch, Truffaut, Rozier, Brisseau, Monteiro? Pelayo.
