Synopsis:

In the summer of 1945 Tadeusz Mazur, a Polish officer toughened in the resistance, goes to Masuria, a German region that the Conference of Potsdam has just annexed to Poland after the end of the Second World War, to visit the widow of a soldier of the Wehrmacht whose death he witnessed. This is how he meets Rose, a woman who has personally suffered the disturbing atmosphere that has permeated the area with the change of nationality. Desperate for some kind of protection, the woman pleads with Tadeusz to stay on the farm, which he agrees to. Their mutual respect will turn into affection, and from there to love, initiating a relationship frowned upon by the Soviets and the new Polish nationalists, who consider Rose a German who must be expelled from the country.
