Panagiotis Fafoutis

Greece, 2011, 105 min., Greek

The legendary Patras Carnival, a secular tradition and a tourist magnet in which dances, parades, and rites live together, is the epicentre of this bittersweet romantic comedy gathering and linking a handful of stories. Paradise is the second feature film by Panagiotis Fafoutis, who transforms a festive environment into a crossroads of sentimental fates, and where there is room for updating the book of desire and love. Going from the story of a girl coming back from London who intends to stay forever with her boyfriend, to the one of a gay boy in love with his heterosexual boss, via other stories such as the one of a pregnant mature woman afraid of telling her teenage daughter she has an affair with a younger man.
