Jorge Torregrossa

Spain, 2012, 90 min., Spanish

In order to film his genre film debut, Jorge Torregrossa has covered his back with the script writers Sergio S. Sánchez (Lo imposible, El orfanato) and Jorge Guerricaechevarría (Celda 211), a duo has adapted the eponymous novel by David Monteagudo for this film. The recipes of thriller, sci-fiction and even horror films alternate to manage the suspense of a story with a recognisable germ: a group of friends gathers together in a mountain house after several years out of touch. A secret from the past hangs over this reunion, and seems to call the strange events that will lead to turn the situation into a pure and simple struggle for survival.

Jorge Torregrossa

Jorge Torregrossa was born in Alicante in 1973. He graduated at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid specialising in Information Science, and then he followed the courses offered by the Chair of Cinematographic History and Aesthetics in Valladolid. Torregrossa furthered his studies at the Tisch School for the Arts thanks to Fundación La Caixa and the Martin Scorsese Filmmaker Program. His first shorts –like Desire (1999) or Mujeres en un tren (2001)– pointed him out at the audiovisual industry scene, where he has shown his multifaceted talent by far: directing music videos (for Antonio Orozco or Najwa Nimri, for instance), advertisements and chapters in the most popular series likeUn lugar en el mundo o La Señora. FIN, his full-length fiction debut was presented at the last Toronto Festival.
