Antonio Dechent, winner of the Canal Sur award, will be present on the fifth day of SEFF. This Tuesday, the Sevillian actor Antonio Dechent will receive the Canal Sur Radio y Televisión Lifetime Award, with which the autonomous channel wishes to pay tribute to the actor for his long career in acting and for his talent. For this reason, on Tuesday there will be a reception with the actor in the Hotel NH Hesperia Seville at 13:00h, a previous meeting with the media before the presentation gala, which will be at night. Dechent is one of the Andalusian actors with a very wide ranging career, filled with awards. Over the years he has worked with great directors such as Vicente Aranda, José Luis Garci, Benito Zambrano or Agustín Díaz Yanes, among others. His most recent work was in the film Secuestro, by Mar Tagarona, in which he co-stars with the actors Blanca Portillo and José Coronado.
Likewise, during the fifth day of the festival, the Official Sectin will be screening Mimosas (Oliver Laxe), Ma Loute (Bruno Dumont) and Love and Friendship (Whit Stillman). Mimosas, the second film by Oliver Laxe, an adventure western takes us to Morocco on a journey deep into its characters. This film won the Grand Prix at the Critics’ Week in Cannes. The comedy Ma Loute, starring Juliette Binoche and Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi (winner of the Honorary Giraldillo), is a satire set in 1910 in which detectives investigate the strange disappearance of summer visitors in a little coastal town in northern France. Love and Friendship, Whit Stillman’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Lady Susan, tells of a mother’s schemes at the end of the 18th century to find a suitable husband both for her daughter and for herself. Continuing with the Official Section, we will have Laxe in a press conference (after the screening of his film Mimosas), and this will be followed by Szabolcs Hajdu, who presented It’s not the time of my life this Monday evening. Both will attend with actors from their films.
Finally in ‘Las Nuevas Olas’ we have the presence of Anka and Wilhelm Sasnal (who presented The Sun, The Sun Blinded Me this Monday) and Tomas Weinreb (from I, Olga Hepnarova, which was also presented on Monday) in the space ‘A coffee with’ presented on this occasion by Javier Estrada. Also, we have the presentation of the films The Dreamed Path, by Angela Schanelec, and Voir Du Pays, by Delphine and Muriel Coulin, in the final hours of the fifth day of the festival.
In addition to the presentation of these films, this Tuesday we have another series of activities, such as the ‘Women in Focus’ conference by the Asociación Andaluza Mujeres Medios Audiovisuales (AAMMA), where the “Cambiar la Mirada” awards will be presented. Those present will include the director Irati Gorostidi and the writer María Castejón. The round table will be held in the Hotel NH Hesperia Seville at 16:00h. In other parallel activities we will also have actors such as Luis Bermejo (Magical Girl) and Laia Marull (Te doy mis ojos), and the director Isaki Lacuesta (La próxima piel), for the conference ‘Escribir en el cine, V. otras voces, otras escrituras’, which will be held in the Espacio Santa Clara at 19:30 horas.
