The Jury of the OFFICIAL SECTION of Seville European Film Festival 2016, composed by KIERON CORLESS, PILAR LÓPEZ DE AYALA, JOÃO NICOLAU, LUIS E. PARÉS and AGNÈS WILDENSTEIN, has decided to award the following prizes.


GOLDEN GIRALDILLO
Película: MA LOUTE (Francia, 2016)
Dirigida por: Bruno Dumont

From burlesque to gore, from sillent cinema to melodrama, from comic books to expressionism, for the amazingly strong acting, for its enjoyable crazyness.

SPECIAL JURY Award
Película: MIMOSAS (España, Marruecos, Francia, Qatar 2016)
Director: Oliver Laxe

For the beauty of the tale it tells us, for the poetic journey  dealing with reality and spirituality in different times, for its cinematic strenght.


Best DIRECTION Award
Película: STAYING VERTICAL (RESTER VERTICAL) (Francia, 2016)
Director: Alain Guiraudie

For sharing with us a world where territories are fiction, in which his main character  experiments paternity and cosmic sexuality. For its constant reinvention of cinema.

Best SCREENPLAY Award
Película: LE FILS DE JOSEPH (Francia, Bélgica 2016)

For its conceptual ambition and daring, for the beauty and precision of its language, for its profound insights into the mysteries of the human heart.


Best ACTRESS Award

Por una actuación de notable versatilidad y sutileza, que resulta aún más asombrosa al tratarse de una debutante.

Best ACTOR Award

Best CINEMATOGRAPHY Award

For its great vitality, its versatility put to use in the narrative, and for its vibrant dynamism.

 

SPECIAL MENTION TO BEST SOUND DESIGN AND EDITING
Película: MIMOSAS (España, Marruecos, Francia, Qatar 2016)
Director: Oliver Laxe

Cinema is  made with moving images and sounds, it is a creative process  involving many aspects and requiring all kind of different abilites. therefore we think that it would be fair to give an award not only to best cinemaography but also to best sound design and best editing. In the absence of specific prizes for editing and sound, the jury would like to make special mention of the exceptional work in both these categories in Oliver Laxe’s MIMOSAS.

The FIPRESCI Jury (International Federation of Film Critics) of Seville European Film Festival 2016, composed by JAMES EVANS, JOSE RAMÓN OTERO ROKO y MARIOLA WIKTOR, has decided to award the following prize:


BEST FILM AWARD OF THE RESISTANCES OFFICIAL COMPETITION
Película: LOS OBJETOS AMOROSOS (España, 2016) 
Dirigida por: Adrián Silvestre David

For the sensitive realistic representation of issues of immigration, gender, identity and contemporary conditions in Europe, the jury awards ‘Los Objetos Amorosos’ the FIPRESCI critics award for the Best Film in Resistencias Section.

DELUXE ofrece al director de la película ganadora de la sección Resistencias la creación de un máster DCP de su próximo largometraje.

DELUXE offers the winner director of the Resistencias selection the creation of a master DCP of his/her next feature film.

Also the Deluxe Company is awarding a special second prize consisting of the creation of a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) Master –valued at a maximum of €6,000- for the next feature film project by the director of one of the Spanish films that have competed in the Official Section, New Waves and New Waves Non_Fiction. On this occasion the jury, composed of the University of Seville professors Alberto Hermida, Samuel Fernández and Sergio Cobo –responsible for the Seminar on Spanish Cinema organised in collaboration with CICUS-, have decided to grant this award to:

3rd OCAÑA AWARD TO FREEDOM
