After collaborating on Alatriste, Agustín Díaz Yanes has filmed Gold, based on a short story by Arturo Pérez Reverte, who also participated in the script developing the story from the chronicles of the explorers of the New World which are held in the Archivo de Indias in Seville. With a spectacular cast made up by Raúl Arévalo, Bárbara Lennie, Óscar Jaenada, José Coronado, Antonio Dechent, José Manuel Poga, Juan José Ballesta, José Manuel Cervino, Luis Callejo, Andrés Gertrúdix and Juan Diego among others, this Spanish superproduction will have its world premiere in Seville at a special screening at the Seville Festival which will be attended by the cast of the film.
This epic, realistic adventure tells the story of Lope de Aguirre, Núñez de Balboa and those fascinating, terrible men who in the XVI century ventured in the Amazonian jungle in search of the fortune and prosperity they would achieve by finding the legendary El Dorado (a city that was believed to be made entirely of gold). Filmed in Panama, with locations in the Canaries, Seville, Cadiz and Madrid, Gold is produced by Apaches Films, Atresmedia Cine, Telefónica Studios, Sony Pictures Spain and Aralán Films. The film will have its commercial release on 10th November. Gold completes the list of the Festival’s special screenings which includes the already announced screening of The Author by Manuel Martín Cuenca.
