Film industry professionals meet at the SEFF

Monday 26 de October 2015

The Seville European Film Festival is again a meeting place for creators, professionals and institutions from Andalusia and the rest of Spain and Europe. From 9th to 13th November in the Hotel Hesperia, as part of Industry SEFF 2015, various experts will set up networks to contribute to the viability of Andalusian film projects and their positioning within the ecosystem of European and world independent cinema.

During the first three days (Monday 9th to Wednesday 11th November) the International Audiovisual Conference will be held, at which Extenda (Andalusian Agency for Exterior Promotion) and Europe Creative MEDIA Desk Andalusia will offer a series of activities devoted to the distribution of independent film projects. Under the titles of Distribution and Circulation in Europe and The Ecosystem of Independent Film Distribution in Europe, the first two days will include the presence of experts like Valerio Caruso (director of Cineuropa), Christophe Leparc (director of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes) or international sales agents like WIDE, The Open Reel, Picture Tree or Memento. Taskovski Films and the Scottish Documentary Institute will be the protagonists of the third day, which will focus on training regarding non-fiction cinema. With two weeks to go, over 25 Andalusian production companies have already enrolled and over 50 sector professionals have been accredited..

The programming devoted to the industry sector continues on Thursday 12th with the XIII Conference on Animation and Videogames in Andalusia. The Audiovisual Foundation of Andalusia and RTVA are organizing this event, which will have two thematic sessions: Public and Private Funding and Acquisition and Co-production of Contents. Now established as a discussion forum for the latest trends in the animation and videogame industry, this conference has incorporated into its programme a new session regarding employment and the stimulation of the sector and will be attended by experts from the most important national companies such as Nico Matji, producer of Lightbox or Carolina Rodríguez, responsible for promoting Enisa (Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism).

With Women in Focus, the SEFF is seeking to visibilise women in the European film industry and their work. This activity, which will take place on Friday 13th, is organised by the Andalusian Association of Women in the Audiovisual Media (AAMMA) in collaboration with the Department of Culture, The Andalusian Institute of Women, SGAE and UNIA. Through the speakers Manuela Ocón (production director on La Isla Mínima), Alexia Muiños (director of the European Women’s Audiovisual Network) and other sector professionals, they will analyse the Situation and Representation of Women in the Stage and Visual Arts, Women in the European Film Industry and Women’s Talent and Creativity.

All the activities will be held in the Hotel Hesperia Sevilla (Eduardo Dato, 49), including a special session of Stimulating Andalusian Projects (Friday 13th, Fundación AVA). At this forum, some of the projects by Andalusian production companies, currently at various stages of production, will be announced. The accreditation period is still open for those professionals wishing to attend the various conferences.
