The award, that celebrates this year its eight edition, in the framework of the close collaboration between the University of Seville and the SEFF, it does not reward a finished art work but a complete project (script, shooting plan, a suitable budget, financial plan, artistic team proposal, filming locations, etc.). Contributing to its accomplishment, it becomes a launching platform of young filmmakers.
The University of Seville and the SEFF have received this excellent news with great enthusiasm, seeing fulfilled the fundamental aim of supporting the artistic creation of young university students, and even excelling the initial expectations, on having achieved that the project from this contest will be screened in one of the most important film festivals in the world.
‘Pueblo’ tells the story of Rafa, who after a long absence returns to his town. It’s Holy Week and in front of him stands a long-lasting night where he will encounter with the hopelessness of the ones who stayed.
Elena López Riera belongs to lacasinegra collective, which is devoted to the creation, reflexion and investigation of the audiovisual culture, releasing her first film "Pas a Gèneve" also in Seville within the Resistencias section.
In the previous edition the winner of the contest was Alejandro P. Waudby for his shortfilm project ‘El Nudista’, which will be released in the upcoming edition of the Seville European Film Festival. The jury who selected his work was formed by the Professor Virginia Guarinos Galán, of the Audiovisual Communication Department and Chief of the Communication Deparment at US; José Luis Cienfuegos, director of the Seville European Film Festival; Sonia López Truyo, Cultural Programmer at CICUS; and Concepción Fernández.
Currently the University of Seville has published the competition terms for the next edition of the European Cinema Award of the US.
