Seminario

Special Actions. THE OTHER STORY. EXPANDED CINEMA AND PUBLIC SPACE

Directed by Rocío Huertas. Curated by Jesús García.

Rocío Huertas takes us on a journey through the memory of the Sevillian neighbourhood La Alameda de Hércules, a territory that runs counter to the current flow and is the core of the filmmaker's latest project. A place that between the 80's and 2000 was linked to prostitution and later to drugs, and in which underground culture burst onto the scene. For years, Huertas has been investigating the roots of the phenomenon of prostitution through interviews with its protagonists and audiovisual works made from them: witnesses, people affected and, many of them, expelled by urban speculation.

This itinerary offers us a film experience through a guided tour around the urban environment. In this way, we’ll find Deborah Santa Cruz de la Jara, transsexual and resident of the neighborhood; the actor Manolo Solo; the musician and playwright Fernando Mansilla (recently deceased, and to whom the project pays tribute); the anthropologist and stage designer Rosa María Martínez Moreno; the lawyer Vanesa Casado; the anthropologist Hilario Sáez Méndez; Rocío, Vane and Carmen, neighbours of the corrala "la ilusión"; and even to the filmmaker Agnès Varda, especially linked to the project.

Registro previo para ruta. Aforo limitado.

Place: The tour begins Alameda de Hércules and

concludes in the Casa Grande del Pumarejo with a round table.

Date: Sunday November 10, 12.00 to 14.00 h. (second show Saturday November 16)

A series of photographs that evoke the visual diversity of Europe through street scenes, portraits and landscapes, aiming to reflect the features of the ever changing, contradictory and idealistic continent that has survived conflicts and crises. As Béchet explains: "Both in colour and in black and white, I have given as much importance to architecture as to human beings, to warmth in the light, to small accidents and moments throughout history. In this way, a sinuous and silent path is created that allows the documentary spirit to dialogue with the poetic temptation...".
